Devin Ross plays on both sides of the ball but is being recruited primarily for receiver. He committed to Colorado back in August but always maintained he wanted to take a few official visits.
On Sunday, Ross received some surprising news when former head coach Jon Embree was let go after just two seasons.
“Man that was crazy,” Ross said. “They really struggled this year and had a bad season so I wasn’t totally surprised by it but still didn’t see it coming. At this point, I’m not really sure what I’m going to do. I’m going to stay committed for sure and if they bring a real good coach, I’ll still be a Buff.
“A good coach can turn a program around. Look at UCLA and Jim Mora, so if Colorado brings in the right guy and he can make some changes, I think that’s still the best place for me. I’m still talking to some other schools though and I do want to take a few visits.”
Ross mentioned two schools in particular he would like to check out.
“I’ve been talking a lot with Utah and Oregon State,” Ross said. “Utah has offered but Oregon State wants to see my senior film. I haven’t made it yet but I know I need to get on that and I’m planning on putting it together real soon here.
“They’re both good schools and I like the Pac 12. Oregon State has a good offense and I really like Markus Wheaton a lot. He’s one of the fastest player in college football and is fun to watch. So I’m just going to wait and see what happens with Colorado but still look at these other schools too to make sure I have some good options to have in case things don’t work out at CU.”
