Position Battles: Tight End

The Utes have a glut of tight ends, and are as deep as any team in the conference
The Utes feature as much depth and talent as any team in the Pac 12. They just need one guy to step up and be the man that can haul in 4 or 5 passes a game and stretch the defense down the middle consistently.
THE CONTENDERS
Kendrick Moeia
Is Kendrick Moeia really a senior already? It seems like he was just breaking out against Cal in a bowl game with two touchdown passes. He missed spring ball with an injury, but should be healthy for fall. Moeia has been a steady performer since arriving at
Utah
, but we've all been waiting for him to put it together over the course of a full season.
Jake Murphy
Murphy looks like the most talented of the bunch, and the guy with the most long-term potential. He wowed throughout spring camp, putting on dazzling display after display. Tremendous athlete, who comes from an athletic background, he has all american potential down the line.
Dallin Rogers
Rogers was having a great 2011 before an injury forced him to miss the second half of the season and all of spring ball. He should be healthy enough to participate in the fall, but how well he's recovered from the injury will determine his role. Rogers has always been a nice red zone threat and is the most accomplished of the four candidates fighting for a starting spot.
David Rolf
Rolf made the switch from defensive end to tight end during the 2011 season, and emerged as a viable target. An injury during the spring limited his development, but Rolf has the talent to win the starting job.
Projected Winner: Jake Murphy
