South Jordan (Utah) Bingham wide receiver Hayden Weichers saw his recruiting situation dramatically…
Aiava Finds His Landing Spot
"The camp was great. it was very intense. It was good to see the campus and work with the coaches."
Aiava's commitment came after a bit of confusion on his part in regards to an offer, but being on campus and spending time with the coaches sealed the deal.
"They actually offered me two months ago. I didn't understand that they had offered, and then I talked to Coach Roderick like two weeks ago and he made it clear that they had offered. We spoke at the camp and I told them that I wanted to commit. They were excited for me. I really like the environment there. It's one big family where everyone respects everyone. The coaches really care about you as a person and not just as a football player."
While Utah is the only school that has extended an offer in the direction of the 6-6, 270 pounder, Washington, San Jose State, Norther Arizona, and Nevada have all shown interest and he may pick up more offers due to his versatility.
"I play defensive end mostly, but I also play some tight end and quarterback. When I'm on the field, I like to be vicious. If someone is in front of me, they're not going to stop me. I really like to bring the energy."
The big man also fancies himself as a basketball player and would relish the opportunity to play at the next level.
"Right now I'm just working on becoming a better basketball player, and then when hoops end, I'll focus on football again. If I had the opportunity to play basketball at Utah, that would be great, but with high schoolers coming in at like 6-9 as freshman, I understand that it's not likely that I'll play in college."
Aiava is very thankful for all of his success up this point and was adamant about thanking those that have made it all possible.
"I'm very excited about the opportunity and want to give all the praise to the man above. Without him, nothing is possible. I also want to thank my parents. They're the best parents in the world."
