JC running back Vedial Johnson recently picked up his first offer from Utah
Utah
has gone to the junior college ranks each of the last two seasons to bring in a running back with John White in 2011 and Kelvin York in 2012. 2013 could net them another one in
Vedial Johnson
, who was offered by Utah in May.
"I've been hearing from Utah,
TCU
,
UNLV
, and UTSA. Utah has offered. They offered me right after school let out in May. I'm not sure about the others right now and if they'll offer."
With the Utah offer, the Utes have jumped to the top of Johnson's list based on his relationship with Morgan Scalley.
"They're at the top of my list. Coach Scalley has been there for me throughout high school and always been watching me. Scalley is really cool. He's a cool guy to talk to. I plan on going out there sometime, but I'm not sure when. It looks really good for them."
The 6-1, 225 pounder could end up on either side of the ball and is willing to play wherever the coaches put him.
"Most schools are recruiting me at running back, some at linebacker, but I'll play either."
Environment and football success are high on Johnson's list of desires when selecting a school and he should have plenty of time to find the right fit if he sticks with his current timeframe.
"I'm just looking for a school with a great environment and a great football program. I probably won't be making a final decision until closer to signing day."
Until then, the junior college transfer to be, who plans on graduating in December, will be working hard on and off the field.
"I'm just focusing on working out and working to be a better football player."
