Wide receiver Ammon Barker comes from one of the top programs in the state at Alta, and he's hoping that the high level of competition he often faces helps him garner a couple of offers.
"My recruitment has been going good. I've been getting a bunch of letters and a lot of schools want me to come to their camp."
Utah, Cal, UCLA, Oregon State, Nebraska, Georgia Tech, BYU, and BYU are among the schools that have reached out, and while none have offered, Barker is hoping to get one soon, preferably one from the school he rooted for growing up.
"I'm no really sure about any offers. No schools have really hinted at offering yet, so we'll see how it all goes. I've always been a big Utah fan since I was a kid so and offer from them would be huge."
Barker's interest in Utah goes beyond his childhood, as he's developed an afinity for how Kyle Whittingham runs his program.
"I like the program a lot. Coach Whittingham has them going in the right direction. He runs a good squad that is getting better every year. I'd be excited to be a part of that."
Even if the Utes come with an offer, Barker will take his time before making any decisions.
"I'd still weigh all of my options, but they'd definitely be one of my first choices. I'd like to commit during the season or closer to signing day."
Barker is of the LDS faith, but has no plans of serving a mission.
