West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade running back Terrell Newby discusses his experience at California's…
Newby Staying Open
"It's getting pretty hectic. The last week I've picked up a couple of offers from Utah, which is an honor, because I've been looking at their school for awhile, and Oregon State, which surprised me because I haven't heard from them much. Colorado has also offered.I'm also hearing a lot from Oregon and Cal. I'm going to UCLA's junior day this weekend.
One Pac 12 school is standing out over the rest right now for Newby.
"Definitely Cal. Speaking with their running back coach, he's a great guy. It would be great to hear more from them, but they haven't mad an official offer yet."
Utah is still in the mix though and Newby has plans of visiting in April.
"I'm open to all schools and definitely looking in to them. I'll be taking a visit up there for their spring game. To get recruited by Coach (Brian) Johnson is great. I remember purchasing NCAA 2010 and he's on the cover. He's a great ambassador for the school and it's going to be great to start building a relationship with him."
Newby will be busy in the spring making visits all over the Pac 12.
"I'm going to Colorado's Junior Day on April 14th. Going to Washington as well."
The 5-10, 185 pound running back is very quick, posting 4.47 forty time last year at a Sparq event, and is curious as to how a school will use his speed, along with a few other factors, including academics, when narrowing down his list of schools.
"Academics are most important. I want to go to a school where if i wasn't playing football, it would be the best fit for me. Also the kind of offense they run and how I'd be able to be utilized. I have a great combination of speed, power and vision."
With all of the new interest coming, Newby has no idea when he'll start narrowing down his list or when he'll make that final decision.
"It's something I need to look at with my parents. I really havn't made my decision yet. We'll see how things play out, and if I get certain offers, I might commit before the year, but we'll see how things go."
