Utah vs AF- The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Who was good, who was bad, and what was ugly in the Utes narrow victory over Air Force?
The Good
Forcing Turnovers
The Utes forced a season high five turnovers against a team in
Air Force
that rarely turns the ball over. Their turnover margin on the season is now at -1.
Establishing The Running Game
51 carries is a ton and it worked out well with almost 200 yards on the ground. Aaron Roderick really wanted to get the run game going and eat up some clock and the Utes did just that on the first drive with 7 straight
Matt Asiata
runs to open things up and 5 straight
Eddie Wide
runs to get into the end zone.
The Bad
The Receivers Getting Open
Jereme Brooks
did have seven catches, but almost all of those were quick passes out in the flat. No one was really able to get open over the middle. The absence of DeVonte Christopher was much bigger than anticipated.
The Play Calling
By both coordinators. Roderick called a game that was a little too plain, while Sitake was pressing the line of scrimmage too much leaving the secondary wide open for big plays.
The Ugly
Jordan Wynn
’s interception
I have no idea what he was thinking. Either he and his receiver weren’t on the same page, he under-threw the ball by a mile, or made an absolutely terrible decision.
The Safeties on the Three Touchdowns By Air Force
Where the hell were they? Blechen looked like a true freshman on all three plays. Guys weren’t were they needed to be, took bad angles, missed tackles. Not good.
The
TCU
Game
Or it will be…if the Utes play like they did against Air Force.
